About the event
We need to work together to achieve collective liberation from oppression and suffering. Join your fellow queers who are committed to collective liberation for an hour to build upon this mission. We'll start this practice with community connection and conversation centering around collective liberation practices. Topics will vary and lean into current events in our community and the world related to social justice. This will be a space for difficult conversations, at times, and NOT a space for spiritual bypassing. Then we'll end with a 20-minute meditation to seal in our intentions as we move out of this space and into the world. No meditation experience required. This space is for LGBTQIA2S+ folks who are 18+. Yoga mats provided. Masks required. All bodies welcome. ADA accessible.
Facilitator: Aherlow Kasjaka (they/them) is a white, trans nonbinary, neurodivergent, and mostly able-bodied Olympia-based social justice organizer and co-founder of The Liberation Collective. They are a 200-hour YTT yoga teacher-in-training and have been a yoga practitioner for 6 years. They have over 10 years of experience facilitating difficult conversations on social justice issues and 2 years of experience guiding meditation practices in social justice spaces. They bring a softness and warmth to the spaces they facilitate which is balanced with their steadfast openess for constructive conflict. They offer trauma-informed modifications to the practices they share in class to make the space more accessible.Â
